Opening night will be, literally, “out of this world” in this unprecedented multimedia event. Watch in awe as striking NASA images and video are projected onto a giant screen above the orchestra performing Holst’s symphonic blockbuster. Be sure to bring your little astronauts and space lovers alike and travel the galaxy without leaving your seat! Two of Ravel’s impeccable works round out the program: one highly spirited; the other luxuriant and romantic.

MSO music director Bohuslav Rattay pays homage to his homeland with two works by Antonin Dvorák, providing a glimpse of Czech culture. In between the Dvorák pieces, violinist Simone Porter, fresh off solo performances with the LA Philharmonic, performs Sibelius’ masterful – and only – concerto.

Chris Mann, the classically trained star of The Phantom of the Opera National Tour – and contestant on Season 2 of NBC’s The Voice – joins the MSO and the Choirs of the Center to host this newly imagined event. The entire family will celebrate the most wonderful time of the year through beloved carols and music from timeless films, including “The Polar Express” and “Home Alone.” Young and old will be humming all the way into the New year!

The season finale starts with MSO principal clarinetist, Sam Martin, playing Mozart’s famed concerto. Concluding the evening, the orchestra performs Shostakovitch’s massive symphonic work and featuring nearly 100 musicians, making it one of the largest works ever performed by the MSO. It is a spectacle not to be missed!

Broadway conductor Richard Carsey leads the MSO, the Choirs fo the Center and members from Center Stage Theatre in this performance of the popular Rodgers and Hammerstein score that includes “If I Loved You,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” and “June is Bustin’ Out all Over.”
