About iLuminate

“Spectacular, magical and dazzling!” The New York Times

iLuminate’s director and producer Miral Kotb combined her passion for dance and technology to create iLuminate. She started dancing at the age of 5 and wrote her first piece of software at the age of 9 and never stopped either of her passions. After receiving her B.A. In computer science from Columbia University, she performed and created works around the country as well as in several cities in Europe, Britain, and Egypt. As a software-engineer she worked at Bloomberg LP then moved into mobile app development. It was in 2009, at Apple’s World Wide Developer’s Conference, that Miral came up with the idea that soon became the iLuminate technology. In addition to running iLuminate and overseeing shows, Miral partnered up with to create an educational video that is played for students in Elementary schools around the world and is a mentor for Google’s Made with Code initiative.
