The Cold War
with Eric Peterson
Friday, November 15, 2019 – 7:30 pm
Location: Doan History Center, Dow Solutions Room
Eric Peterson, Professor Emeritus of History at SVSU, will discuss The Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union, which lasted for decades and resulted in anti-communist suspicions and international incidents that led the two superpowers to the brink of nuclear disaster. The tearing down of the Berlin symbolized the end of the Cold War and ushered in what many at the time believed would be a period of peace and democracy among nations. The Cold War ended, but peace and democracy remain illusive. What went wrong?
