PHantastic Photos Grades 3-5

Be prepared for fun and excitement! Learn the fundamentals of photo taking and composition. Along with the instructor, you’ll snap photos while on walks to surrounding points of interest such as Dow Gardens, and learn about important fundamentals of photographic composition. Create projects such as bookmarks, cards, magnets and more! Say “CHEESE”!

Studio Ceramics Grades 6-8

Discover your creativity potential as you learn the fundamentals of working with clay. Hand-building methods, including pinching, coil and slab construction will be introduced. Basic techniques of creating forms on the potter’s wheel will be explored. Individual design and style is encouraged!

This class meets Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for three weeks (July 29 – August 14.)

Stage Artist Academy Grade 4-8

A stage artist is a person who is more than an actor, but rather is someone who understands how all the many parts of a play work together in harmony. This two-week camp provides an eye-opening journey for young theatre artists to learn, in a hands-on environment, important onstage and backstage skills, culminating a final public performance of two plays.

This is a two week, Monday through Friday, full day camp (9 am – 4 pm daily.)

Drawing Anime Grades 6-8

Anime, in addition to manga (Japanese comics), is extremely popular in Japan and well know throughout the world. Anime is commonly referred to as an art form. As a visual medium, it naturally places a large emphasis on visual styles. The styles can vary from artist to artist or studio to studio. While different titles and different artists have their own artisitc styles, many stylistic elements have become so common such that they are described as being definitive of anime in general. Learn the basic drawing guidelines of Anime’s visual characteristics, terminology, character design and some animation technique.
