Centered on Ceramics Gr 3-5

Roll, pinch, coil and throw yourself into the medium of clay. Students will learn many different ways to manipulate clay by using hand building techniques.

Have fun creating your own projects utilizing your new-found skills. The potter’s wheel will be introduced toward the end of this class; glazing techniques will also be covered.

Experience Native American life with Kaya, the War of 1812 on Lake Ontario with Caroline, Hispanic culture of early New Mexico with Josefina, explore friendship and hardship with Cecile and Marie Grace in New Orleans in 1853, and challenges of a Jewish immigrant life with Rebecca in New York City in the early 1900s.

Pysanka Workshop- Star (Adult)

Pysanka Workshop – Batik Spring Star Egg Ornament

This intricate yet, basic egg is a sampler of techniques for this traditional art. Using a candle, kistka (wax funnel pen), bees’ wax and dye you will create your own ornament with forsythia, pussy willows, and net around a central star.

Bring $5 cash to pay directly to the instructor to cover supplies. Space is limited – ages 15 plus welcome.

Summer Tech Wksp (ages 7-10)

Explore the amazing world of technology this summer with our Summer Tech Series! Children will learn about the basics of circuitry and computer programming through fun, hands-on activities!

July 13: Become a computer scientist as you learn about the parts of a computer. During this intensive workshop, we will work in teams to build our own simple computer! After you have finished your build, take it one step further as you begin to explore coding.
