Drawing Anime for Beginners

Anime, in addition to manga (Japanese comics), is extremely popular in Japan and well known throughout the world. Anime is commonly referred to as an art form. As a visual medium, it naturally places a large emphasis on visual styles. The styles can vary from artist to artist or studio to studio. While different titles and different artists have their own artistic styles, many stylistic elements have become so common such that they are described as being definitive of anime in general. Learn the basic drawing guidleines of Anime’s visual characteristics, terminology, character design and some animation technique.

Mid-Mich Voice Academy (14+)

Do you love to sing? Would you like meet other passionate singers? The Mid-Michigan Voice Academy is a one-week intensive for people like you, a chance to dive into the many aspects of vocal music. You will have the opportunity to meet and speak with accomplished professionals from the Broadway and operatic stage, receive instruction and coaching on solo performance in a masterclass setting, and engage in a lively choral experience with your fellow participants culminating in a public concert at the end of the week!

This course requires travel within the region.

Contour Line Workshop (Adult)

Do you enjoy drawing the world around you, but you are having trouble making your ideas on paper look as good as you imagined? In this workshop you will explore the power of observation and exercise the balance of looking at your subject verses looking at your paper to capture what you see. This workshop will include the use of expressive line, blind contour and show beginning artists a new way to think about drawing objects in front of them.

Discover your confidence and attain the art of speaking in public, design & create with a blacksmith forging rod iron, meet with local businesses to plan how you can make your own money..all in 5 days…..whew!

This year’s scouts will earn the Metalwork & Entrepreneurship badges and will complete most of the requirements for the Communication (Eagle Rank badge). In order to participate scouts must bring signed blue cards by your leader to ensure you are ready to work on Eagle Rank badge.
