Intro to Film Photography
Did you take a darkroom class long ago in high school or college? Film photography is alive and well with supplies available. It’s a well-kept secret, but we have a complete, equipped darkroom at the Center. This class will explore the world of film. Watch the magic of development unfold and take home your own print.

Ceramic Hand Building Beg/Int
Are you new to the world of pottery? Are you a potter in love with hand building? This is the class for you! The teacher will explore the three major hand building methods: pinch pot, coil and slab using a project-based approach. Students will also be introduced to the extruder and tile making. Hand-building helps students to understand the properties of clay and learn skills all potters need. The projects demonstrated will allow students to explore the capabilities of clay for functional work as well as its potential as an artistic medium. It will also allow experienced potters to build upon the projects introduced or to pursue their own work with support from the teacher.
All students will be expected to purchase clay from the studio for $40.

Advanced Water Media
This class is a way to grow your water media experience. This is not an assignment based class and you must have a good working knowledge of water media. Work in the studios and delve deeper into this medium through exploration of advanced water media techniques, interaction with fellow students and participating in dynamic critiques.

Jewelry Fabrication
of adornment. Attention to soldering and the use of a jeweler’s saw are among two of the fundamental jewelry manufacturing techniques students will become proficient at when working in gold or silver. Students will also learn essential gemological information about gemstones and how they should be cared for during the manufacturing process. All raw materials must be purchased by the student at an extra cost.

Intro to Colored Pencil
This course will take your drawing skills into the painting realm. Colored pencil is a great crossover between drawing and painting, allowing for a beautiful exploration of color’s expressive qualities. Subject matter will include still life, landscape, portraiture and more.

Beg/Inter Oil Painting
Learn the basics of oil painting or hone your oil painting skills. Beginning and intermediate students will work with the materials and techniques unique to oil painting. Explore different mediums and supports as you learn to manipulate brushes, mix color and apply paint using traditional and contemporary proccesses. Students will study old masters’ techniques, such as grisaille and painting alla prima and will be encouraged to develop an individual painting style as they paint from still life, landscape and portrait subject matter.
