Jewelry Lost Wax Casting

Fluid designs, geometric forms and representational figures all translate into wonderful pieces of wearable sculpture in lost wax casting. Explore the process of taking your designs from paper, to wax sculpture, to finished jewelry. Start with a concept, experiment with different techniques of sculpting wax, cast the wax in bronze, sterling silver or gold, then finish the metal into beautiful pieces of jewelry.

Jewelry making by lost wax casting is a class appropriate for beginning as well as intermediate and advanced students. Beginning students will start with a guided project, while intermediate and advanced students will work on projects of their own design. All students will be given guidance from the instructor as needed. Wax working, casting and finishing techniques will be demonstrated in group settings and on an individual basis during the class.

Art & Skill of Drawing 1

“The Art and Skill of Drawing” is a 4-part, 48-week series of classes (four terms) designed with the beginner in mind, but intermediate drawing students will get a lot of new information as well. This is an essential class for those who want to draw and is a great starting point for those who would like to move into other media such as painting, photography, sculpture and digital art.

Learn the art of observation, the first component in learning how to draw, and be introduced to drawing fundamentals: line, shape, volume, proportion, space, shading, value and sight measuring. These techniques will be applied to black-and-white media with primary concentration on graphite.

The Art and Skill of Drawing I is open to beginning and intermediate students. All students will receive individual instruction, no matter what their level.
