Audition Tips

Avoid those butterflies and clammy hands at your next audition! Young actors can spend some time getting tips on music, dance and reading, and get personalized feedback after a “mock audition” from long-time theatre participants and instructors.

This class is designed for 4th to 6th grade studentsm specifically for those auditioning for the Peanut Gallery production of Charlotte’s Web.

Friday, December 14 will meet in Rehearsal Room 3 from 6 – 8:30 pm.
Saturday, December 15 willl met in the Lecture Room from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.

Wood Burning Workshop

Learn how to create drawings with a wood burning tool on wood. This workshop concentrates building on your own drawing skills to create line drawings and value drawings using the different points found in your wood burning set for shading, fine lines, and thicker lines. Will include instruction on different ways to transfer your photos to your wood projects. Bring your wood blank to design.

Students will need to bring these supplies:
– Wood Burner with at least 3 points
– Sand paper
– Wood blank to draw/burn on (a flat surface or a box)

Maximize the built-in camera functions of your smartphone and learn to use some of the most powerful shooting and editing apps out there. This class is not just for beginners; those with experience can bennefit by enrolling too! Students need an iPhone 5 or higher, iPad or equivalent, Samsung Galaxy,

Begin/Intermed Watercolor

Beginning Ceramics

This instructor will introduce students to the three main techniques of handbuilding: pinch pot, coil and slab. Using a project based approach, students will explore these three techniques using textures and tools available to them in the studio. Experienced hand-builders are welcome and will also be challenged to extend their skills through these projects and supported as they work on their own projects.

Clay must be purchased from the Studio School.

Advanced Critique

Artists explore their individual genre of work using the media of their choice. The class meets for 90 minutes each week for discussions, questions on works-in-progress and designing new strategies for conceptual expansion. There will be two formal critiques in this course, each lasting three hours: one in the middle of the term, and one on the final day, with artists having the opportunity to bring two works for review. The final critique will consist of a locally well-known artist or art-related professional invited to participate in the review.

This 9-week course is open to intermediate and advanced artists only.

Exploring Art History

Explore art styles and periods, beginning with prehistoric cave paintings and drawings, through discussion and hands-on experiences. Advanced Water Media

This class is a way to grow your water media experience. This is not an assignment based class and you must have a good working knowledge of water media. Work in the studios and delve deeper into this medium through exploration of advanced water media techniques, interaction with fellow students and participating in dynamic critiques. You must have a working knowledge of water media to enroll in this course.

Register for two ore more Advanced Water Media sessions and save! Registrants receive $25 off each subsequent session they enroll in when enrolling for the sessions at the same time via the Ticket Office. There are three sessions offered with January, March and April start dates.

Begin/Intermed Oil Painting

Learn the basics of oil painting or hone your oil painting skills. Beginning and intermediate students will work with the materials and techniques unique to oil painting. Explore different mediums and supports as you learn to manipulate brushes, mix color and apply paint using traditional and contemporary proccesses. Students will study old masters’ techniques, such as grisaille and painting alla prima and will be encouraged to develop an individual painting style as they paint from still life, landscape and portrait subject matter.
