MATRIX:MIDLAND will screen a live webcast of the TED 2013 conference from February 26 through March 1 in the Midland Center for the Arts Lecture Room. TED is a small non-profit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

Each year, the world's leading thinkers and doers gather for an event many describe as the highlight of their year. Attendees have called it "The ultimate brain spa" and "A 4-day journey into the future, in the company of those creating it. "A year-long search for the world's most exciting unheard voices ... and an unprecedented number of suggestions from the global TED community on the speakers who matter most right now ... has resulted in an outstanding line-up for TED2013: The Young. The Wise. The Undiscovered.

This line-up features the largest number of speakers in TED's history — more than 70. That's because many of the talks this year are shorter. Often 12 minutes or less, instead of 18. And nearly half of the program comes from our first-ever global talent search. Events were held in 14 cities around the world and attracted thousands of applicants, including some truly astounding youngsters.

Bringing them together has created a fast-moving program covering an incredible variety of topics. For example, the opening session features a major debate on a question puzzling economists, one with huge implications for all our futures. And the final day digs into fundamental questions of identity, spirituality and legacy.

Free Admission; space is limited, so please sign up early!
