Historical, musical, educational and participative programs designed to enhance your appreciation of the role Midland County plays in our collective histories. Presented four times a year at Heritage Park. Past topics include Michigan history, Victorian gardening, antiques and collectibles.
February's Topic: An Evening with Miz Rosie Chapman:
The Spirit of Rosa Parks
February is Black History Month which celebrates the history of African-American people and their achievements. The Midland County Historical Society is celebrating with a visit from storyteller, Rosie Chapman who has thrilled audiences of all ages with her unique storytelling style. On February 21, 2013 she will entertain with her one-of-a-kind presentation on Rosa Parks, the iconic individual whose defiant actions brought the Civil Rights movement to a critical point of action within the national African-American community. Miz Rosie's stories will come alive through songs, musical instruments and audience participation. She will present in costume, The Spirit of Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement.
This presentation will take place in the Whitman Room
