“Andrew Spencer…did a magnificent job with this new and unusual work.” ~ Muskegon Chronicle
Andrew Spencer, Professor of Percussion at Central Michigan University, joins the MSO to perform American composer Michael Daugherty’s Raise the Roof. A fusion of styles – from medieval plainchant to rock and Latin rhythms – it brings the timpani to forefront of the orchestra. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 is a heroic finale to the evening. Originally dedicated to the great conqueror Napoleon, Beethoven broke all the rules of the classical symphony with his composition, most commonly known as Eroica.
