Meet Alexa Vere de Vere, a rich, fabulous and oh-so-sensational black-clad woman of mystery who’s made the celebrity world her home. Maybe she’s a record producer, maybe she’s a film agent; what is clear is that she wants novelist Evan Wyler, the media’s hottest thing-of-the-moment, to write the screenplay of her life story. In return, Alexa offers Evan a passport to the glamorous world of fame, fortune and the best tables everywhere, enticing him like a bee to honey.
And then Alexa vanishes, leaving Evan to foot the bill for all the dinners and Armani suits they’ve gone through. While trying to find her, Evan discovers her deep, dark secret and learns that he is not the only one who has fallen under her spell. A sexy, insightful satire about succumbing to the “buzz” and glamour of showbiz. Written by Douglas Carter Beane.
