MIDLAND, Mich. – The AB Dow Museum’s 52nd annual juried fine art Summer Art Fair will have a new look in a new location this June. In a collaboration with Michigan Baseball Foundation and the Midland Downtown Development Authority, the annual event will take place in downtown Midland on June 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is free.
Presented by the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art, the Summer Art Fair takes place outdoors, rain or shine. Exhibits include original works of glass, photography, jewelry, ceramic, mixed media, painting, unique apparel, metalwork and more.
Over 80 artists will display their juried exhibits of fine arts and crafts in downtown Midland’s new streetscape.
Enjoy popular Summer Art Fair activities including live entertainment performed by local musicians including the Resonators percussion ensembles; artist demonstrations where visitors can stop to visit with Studio School instructors who will be working on their favorite form of art, such as drawing, ceramics and painting; tasty food options including Greek fare and Texas BBQ, as well as good old-fashioned hot dogs with the works and puff pastry elephant ears!
“We are very excited that the Summer Art Fair will take place in the new streetscape. This collaboration will attract patrons not just from the Great Lakes Bay Region but other surrounding counties as well,” said art fair director Emmy Mills. “We’ll still have all the great art, food and fun that the community has come to love.”
On Saturday, the Summer Art Fair committee will present three prestigious awards totaling $2,250 in cash prizes to selected artists based upon artistic merit and unique craftsmanship. Award winners will have ribbons displayed at their booths throughout the rest of the weekend.
Summer Art Fair 2018 is sponsored by Tri-Star Trust Bank.
