Celebrate the season of migration at Midland Center for the Arts! Whether you are a beginning birder or a fully-fledged "bird nerd", we invite you to join us for a special presentation on how to find and identify Michigan birds.

Studio Saturdays - Upper Elementary & Middle School

Get creative - and a little messy - and make masterpieces with your family at the Center! Explore different art mediums as you learn about a variety of art-making techniques. All supplies are included in the workshop fee, along with museum admission on the day of your workshop.

Make Your Mark - Find your passion and put it into art! Learn about how art has played a part in activism through the ages, and use your unique voice to make a mixed media artwork.

Minis in the Museum Storytime for children

Minis in the Museum

Join us for a monthly story time at the museum! Mini museum goers between the ages of 1 - 5 are invited to join us every third Saturday of the month at 10:30 AM in the IFF & Dupont STEM Exhibit Space. Guests will enjoy a special story and themed snack, as well as a take-home activity for children and parents to do together.

Join us in April for We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom  

The event is included with Museum Admission on SAT, APR 27, or free for Museum Members!

Studio Saturdays - Younger Elementary

Spring Landscapes will be the class theme for May! Learn how to create a step-by-step landscape together using acrylic paint.

Young Explorers Workshops

SAT, MAY 11, 2024 / 10:30 AM 

Join us for a monthly learn-and-play with the littles, perfect for ages 2-5! We meet in-person on the second Saturday of each month to share story time and an activity. Museum admission included with ticket price!

The Extraordinary Gardener will be the workshop theme for MAY! Become an extraordinary gardener for the day as we read the story by Sam Boughton. After, we will plant a special seed to take home and care for as it grows!

Tales from Larkin Township Cemetery Tour

SAT, MAY 11, 2024 / Tours starting every 20 minutes from 1 - 2:40 PM
At the Larkin Township Cemetery, 2678 N Sturgeon Rd Midland, MI 48642

The Midland County Historical Society of the Midland Center for the Arts invites you to join us in the Larkin Township Cemetery. Tenants of the cemetery will have a chance to tell their stories (through costume actors). We'll hear from Charles Steede who spent the last 61 years of his 107 years on earth in Midland County, having arrived in 1900. Mr. Steede saw much change in his time and looks forward to sharing. Join a tour and see our local history come to life! This event is held rain or shine.

Conversations with the Community: A Human Library Event

Please join us and participate in discussions with three captivating members of our local community: Smallwood Holloman, Larry Levy, and Indira Oskvarek. In this human library-style event our three storytellers are excited to share their diverse life experiences in honest and engaging conversations. Participants will be split into 3 small groups and all groups will have the opportunity to talk with and hear from each storyteller individually. We look forward to seeing you!

We are pleased to present the 56th Annual Summer Art Fair. Since its inception, the Summer Art Fair has held a long-standing tradition of excellence as a premier fine arts and crafts fair. It is held outdoors on Main Street of Downtown Midland, a community noted for its cultural awareness, appreciation, arts resources, and artistic advocation. The city is the home and world headquarters of the Dow Chemical Company. As such, its population is augmented by educated, affluent, corporate professionals and a diverse range of citizens.

Linda Basque Emerging Artists Program:
APPLY BY APR 12 / Aspiring artists are encouraged to apply for the Linda Basque Emerging Artist Program! Those admitted into the program will be given a FREE 5 ft x 10 ft booth space (tents provided) to sell their work! To get started with your application, contact education@midlandcenter.org.
