Fused Glass – Jewelry

Learn fundamentals of fusing glass while creating your own fused glass jewelry! Create for yourself or as gifts! Topics will include glass compatibility, firing schedules, annealing, design and safety. Each student will create up to 6 or 7 jewelry pieces. Finished work will be ready for pick-up the following week. No experience necessary.

Safety glasses will be provided; bring an apron or smock if desired. Long pants & comfortable closed-toe shoes should be worn. The workshop takes place off-site at instructor’s unheated, no A/C studio/garage. Please dress appropriately for the weather!

Material fee of $20 must be paid to the instructor.

Modern American Cuisine – A Dinner by Chef Aaron Gaertner

Join us for a fun evening out where you’ll discover classical cuisine with a molecular and global twist! Chef Aaron Gaertner (executive chef of Golden Glow Ballroom) leads a four-course gastronomic journey complete with a tasting of wine to complement the menu. Sit back and relax as he demonstrates cutting-edge cooking techniques you can use in your own kitchen. Your palate will thank you!

End of Term Critique

Join Armin Mersmann, MCFTA Artist in Residence, for this unique opportunity to discuss your art – as well as the art of others – in a supportive environment. Presented works must be created during a fall 2014 MCFTA class, with artwork limited to one per person. This is a social gathering open to students, faculty and friends, whether presenting work or not.

Held in the Saints & Sinners Lounge inside Midland Center for the Arts, admission is FREE with a cash bar and light refreshments available.
