Advanced Critique

Artists explore their individual genre of work using the media of their choice. The class meets for 90 minutes each week for discussions, questions on works-in-progress and designing new strategies for conceptual expansion. There will be two formal critiques in this course, each lasting three hours: one in the middle of the term, and one the final day. The artists will have the opportunity to bring two works for review. The final critique will consist of a locally well-known artist or art-related professional invited to participate in the review. This 9-week course is open to intermediate and advanced artists only.

Beginning Ceramics

This class is for true beginning clay students as well as students with experience who are interested in working on their hand-building skills. Hand-building helps students to understand the properties of clay and learn skills all ceramic students need, including those interested in working on the wheel. In this class the teacher will use a project-oriented approach to teach the three major hand building methods: pinch pot, coil, and slab. Students will also be introduced to extruding, and finally the wheel. The projects introduced will allow the beginner to explore the potential of clay as an artistic medium. It will also allow experienced students to build upon the projects introduce or to pursue their own projects with support from the teacher. All students will be expected to purchase 25 lbs. of Wheatstone for $40.

Please note that ABDM members should register via the MCFTA Ticket Office to receive their discount.
