Centered on Ceramics (8-11)

Roll, pinch, coil and throw yourself into the medium of clay. Students will learn many different ways to manipulate clay by using hand building techniques. Have fun creating your own projects utilizing your new-found skills. The potter’s wheel will be introduced toward the end of this class; glazing techniques will also be covered.

Draw/Paint: Young Artist (6-8)

Young artists will have fun creating more believable images. Fundamental drawing and painting techniques will be introduced in a variety of media. Concepts such as light, shadow, perspective, form and color are introduced in this fun class for the youngest of artists.

Science Explorers (8-11)

Explore the basic concepts of the sciences such as chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology and biology. In the process learn how they were discovered, and what it would be like to work in that field. Have fun making and using your own scientific instruments. Make things disappear and then reappear again, race your ‘hot wheels’ cars, make a sundial, grow crystals and see all the beautiful and scary things found in a drop of pond water.

Learn about all the elements of drama production! Everyone will have at least one position in the company: from crew, set and costumes to acting, make-up, management and ticket office. Family and friends are invited to a special performance on the final day of class!

Cartooning is Cool (8-11)

Here’s a hands-on introduction to the basics of cartooning. You’ll learn simple and fun techniques of cartooning, explore aspects of your favorite characters and make unique personalities and wonderful worlds of your own in this fun class! Explore expressionistic characteristics using fine line, shapes and a variety of other techniques to draw fun cartoon characters of your own!

Ready for Kindergarten (4-5)

This program is designed for boys and girls entering kindergarten this fall. Experiences will emphasize: basic literacy skills (read alouds, letters and sounds, one-to-one correspondence), kindergarten routines, beginning math skills, fine motor skills and oral language skills. Parents will receive a list of suggestions for activities to keep their young students preparing for the BIG step to BIG KID school. Students must have independent bathroom skills and be entering kindergarten this fall.

Pirates and Princesses (3.5-5)

The Children’s School of Music invites you to join Cinderella & Captain Hook on a fanciful journey through castles and desert islands. Pirate and Princess songs are mixed with our preschool age music program and is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing and pitch, movement, keyboard activities and rhythm. Creativity is stressed.
