Stage Struck Act 3 (10-12)

Act III is designed for enthusiastic, eager actors who enjoy digging deeper into developing characters and performing scenes from Rudyard Kipling’s beloved “Just So Stories.” In addition to Friday’s final performance for family and friends, participants will get behind the scenes peeks into Teenage Musical’s production of “Crazy for You” and September’s Center Stage production of “Mary Poppins.” For ages 10 – 12.

Teen Acting Intensive (13-18)

Take your acting to the next level! Using scene work and monologue you will improve comedic timing, commit to characters, work down a scene for better focus and learn to be vulnerable with dramatic realism. This class is for actors who have performed in a production before or have completed previous acting camps such as Stage Struck 3. The camp will culminate in a showcase performance for friends and family.

Ready for Kindergarten (4-5)

This program is designed for boys and girls entering kindergarten this fall. Experiences will emphasize: basic literacy skills (read alouds, letters and sounds, one-to-one correspondence), kindergarten routines, beginning math skills, fine motor skills and oral language skills. Parents will receive a list of suggestions for activities to keep their young students preparing for the BIG step to BIG KID school. Taught by an experienced kindergarten teacher.

Students must have independent bathroom skills.

Science Explorers (8-11)

Explore the basic concepts of the sciences such as chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology and biology as you replicate famous discoveries and learn about careers in that field. Have fun making and using your own scientific instruments. Draw with fire, manipulate physical forces to win a race, make a telescope, learn about fossils and see all the beautiful and scary things found in a drop of pond water.

Drawing Anime (11-14)

Anime, in addition to manga (Japanese comics), is extremely popular in Japan and well known throughout the world. Anime is commonly referred to as an art form. As a visual medium, it naturally places a large emphasis on visual styles. The styles can vary from artist to artist or studio to studio. While different titles and different artists have their own artistic styles, many stylistic elements have become so common such that they are described as being definitive of anime in general. Learn the basic drawing guidelines of Anime’s visual characteristics, terminology, character design, and some animation technique.

Badgapalooza Boy Scout (11-18)

From the branches of their family tree to roots of our national heritage, Boy Scouts will experience hands-on history this summer. Try traditional skills of Native Americans, swing a blacksmith’s hammer, learn about your past and gain confidence as you teach others.

In the August session, scouts will earn Genealogy, Metalwork and complete most requirements for Communications (and Eagle Rank badge).

In order to participate boys must be age 11 during their camp session and be ready to work on the Eagle Rank badges.

Musical Explorers: Band & Orchestra

So many choices! Strings, brass, woodwind, percussion and non-orchestral instruments; spend a day with members of each of these instrument groups to see which is the best fit for you. This class is meant for students who are getting ready to select an instrument to play. This program allows for a longer and more involved opportunity to experiment and learn about the choices they have by spending three hours with each of the primary instrument groups.

Instruments generously on loan from Herter Music Center and introduced by guest instructors who specialize in these areas.

Advanced Musical Theatre Auditioning

Looking for a challenge? Five days of auditioning with feedback from a professional casting director. In this class we will look at and freshen up what you’ve been doing at auditions, new material will be given and worked in an audition environment, we will discuss your total package presentation, we will work your callback skills with cold readings and taking director’s notes, and talk about how you are/how you want to be perceived. Each day will feature different types of auditions with different skills required.

Teen Studio: Drawing Boot Camp

Explore form, shape, light, shadow and structure as an artist does with our Artist in Residence and ArtPrize finalist, Armin Mersmann. Learn to really see what is in front of you, not what you THINK you see. Using graphite as a foundation for contour drawing, full value rendering, negative/positive space, sight measuring and how to effectively use a grid system for a better final product.

Please note that this class will meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for two weeks; August 10 – August 20, 2015.
