Plein Air (Adult)

Plein Air – Art in the Garden

In this nine-week course you will work in the Dow Gardens experiencing the beauty of nature while transferring your feelings and observations to canvas or paper. Students choose their own medium as they study light and its relationship to form, atmosphere, color and mood. Individual attention and instruction provided. Students are encouraged to bring a camera to take photographs to use as a reference in case of rain. The galleries will be used on rainy days and for critiques. Admission to Dow Gardens is included in the class price.

Open Ceramics (Adult)

In this intermediate-level class you will work on your own projects with tutelage from your instructor. Whether you wish to construct your projects by means of sculpture, hand building (using pinch, coil, model, or slab work) or by throwing on the potter’s wheel, individual instruction and demonstrations will be available during class time.

Tasty Tales (3.5-5)

Pre-schoolers and their grownups will discover Michigan’s tall tales, legends, and folklore with our mini-camp series. Each day you’ll hear a different story, then prepare and enjoy a tasty treat with the help of your little one!

iPhone Photo Group (Adult)

In response to the success of the Smart Phone Photography classes and our on-going iPhone group, We are having a summer session. Join this bi-weekly discussion class concerning all things related to Smart Phone Photography. We will meet every other Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 PM to talk about new apps, new approaches, share our work and discuss our processes in a relaxed, fun atmosphere using power point and other visual aids. Mid-Mich Voice Academy (13+)

Do you love to sing? Would you like meet other passionate singers? The Mid-Michigan Voice Academy is a one-week intensive for people like you, a chance to dive into the many aspects of vocal music. You will have the opportunity to meet and speak with accomplished professionals from the Broadway and operatic stage including hometown native Katie Travis and Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera Conductor, Richard Carsey, receive instruction and coaching on solo performance in a masterclass setting, and engage in a lively choral experience with your fellow participants culminating in a public concert at the end of the week!

Pirate and Princess songs are mixed with our preschool age music program. This camp will emphasize solfege singing, ear training, movement, rhythm, and keyboard activities. There may even be a special visit from Skully the parrot. Creative and imaginative minds welcome!

Jr History Girls C (6-8)
