Toddler Tunes (18 mon-3)

A wonderful musical beginning includes singing, rocking, finger games and lots of rhythm play. Keyboard geography includes high and low notes, black and white keys and playing/stopping concepts. In this drop-in class you will experience and share: movement and rhythm, activity songs for body awareness, songs to sing (fun, silly, and lullabies), playing small percussion instruments, keyboard games, activities and manipulatives (hoops, streamers, balls, etc.), listening activities (quiet and active).

For ages 18 months – 3 years.

A punchcard is available via the Ticket Office (989-631-8250) for $60 to use towards any six summer sessions, or charge is $10 per drop-in session.

Sessions run on Thursdays, June 22 through August 10, with no sessions on July 6 or July 27.

Preschool Drama (3.5-5)

Channel your child’s imagination by getting them involved in theatre! Preschoolers will love this opportunity to act out their favorite stories, move with different types of music, and embrace their silly side! Early participation in drama develops confidence and speaking skills, serves as a wonderful introduction to acting, and begins a life-long enjoyment of creative arts.

Aquatic Biology (8-14)

Explore the fascinating world of aquatic animals and plants that can be found in our ponds, lakes and rivers. This class will cover the microscopic world of protozoa and macroinvertebrates such as dragonflies, mayflies, and crayfish. Fish, frogs and turtles will also be examined. This hands-on course will be spent in the laboratory and in the field at the Dow Gardens ponds. Bring your digital camera to capture what you see.

Phantastic Photos (8-11)

Be prepared for fun and excitement! Learn the fundamentals of photo taking and composition. Along with the instructor, you’ll snap photos while on walks to surrounding points of interest such as Dow Gardens, and learn about important fundamentals of photographic composition. Create projects such as bookmarks, cards, magnets and more! Say “CHEESE!”

Stage Struck Act 1 (6-7)

On Monday you will get your very own role in the classic folktale, “Mother Goose and her Pig!” Each class is designed to make your character come to life through learning how to use your voice, how to move on stage, and how costumes and makeup help you perform on the Little Theater stage for family and friends on Friday, July 14 at 11 am. This class is designed for those who are just beginning to read. For ages 6 – 7.
