Self-Guided Architectural Tour, Highlighting the works of Alden B. Dow
This drive-by tour begins at Midland Center for the Arts. Visitors will be provided with a map and a audio cassette for a cost of $5. You will see five decades of Dow's design, Midland's historic district featuring homes built by the local citizens in the 1800s, the unique Tridge and many more - 21 architectural treasures in all. The Alden B. Dow Home and Studio, a National Historic Landmark located
at 315 Post Street, Midland, Michigan, was designed by Alden B.
Dow in 1934. Alden Dow (1904-1983), an organic architect and student
of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed for 50 years throughout the United
States and was the creator of Midland Center for the Arts. His
home and studio has been preserved for architectural study, education
programming and to share with the public. Scheduled hours and group
tours are available.
