Audition Procedures
All auditions are held at Midland Center for the Arts, with the exception of the Men of Music Kickoff Picnic.

Theatre Guild and Peanut Gallery ADULT production scripts are available from the Theatre Guild office (deposit required). Peanut Gallery CHILD production audition packets are available three weeks prior to each audition. For more information, email the Theatre Guild office or call (989) 631-5930 ext. 1702.

Music Society auditions require a prepared song of your choice. Readings are taken from the script. Music Society audition packets are available at the Music Society office three weeks prior to the audition. For more information, email the Music Society office or call (989) 631-5930 ext. 1270.

The Midland Symphony Orchestra office can be reached by email or by calling (989) 631-5930 ext. 1600.

Audition Tips
Relax and breathe
Be familiar with the production for which you are auditioning
Imagine the role you see yourself in and concentrate on that
Practice reading from the script with expression projection
Wear clothes that look nice but give you freedom to move
Attend any audition workshops offered before the audition
And above all, have fun!

An unabashedly silly adaptation of the childhood classic with hip-hopping music, Wonderland! is an upbeat, coming-of-age story that will have audiences of all ages grinning like a Cheshire cat!

Visit some of your favorite characters from Alice in Wonderland and meet dozens of new ones, too: a baseball team, a gospel group called The Responsibilities, a train conductor, star-struck tourists and much more.

Based on the novel Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. Directed by Laurene Franjione and Amy Meilink. Presented by Peanut Gallery.

MOCK AUDITIONS FOR NEWBIES

Here’s a “just-for-fun” introduction to auditions and everything “theatre.” Mock Auditions for Newbies is an opportunity to chat with directors and backstage techies over coffee and donuts. You’ll learn what happens both on-stage and behind the curtain, and take a stab at reading from a short scene. FREE admission, but you must register with the Ticket Office.

ESCANABA IN LOVE
June 2 and 3, 2010 @ 7 pm

The prequel to Escanaba in Da Moonlight is set in the Soady family deer camp during WWII and outfitted with a whole new cast of wacky Yoopers. Eighteen-year-old Albert Jr. is celebrating his final hunting season before he becomes a sharpshooter for the U.S. Army, when he meets "Big Betty" Balou and the rest is history. Written by Jeff Daniels. Directed by Jan Huff.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - Interim Theatre
June 5 and 6, 2010 - 1-5 pm
Location: Rehearsal Room "3"
Performance Date: August 5, 6, and 7, 2010


Casting for 10 males, 10 females (flexible), 13-21 year olds.  Shakespeare's romantic comedy demonstrates that "the course of true love never did run smooth," at least not when it combines Athenian nobility, fairies, meddling parents, a misguided servant and a love potion.  Carol Rumba directs this unique show in the Dow Gardens.

Auditions will run simultaniously with Teenage Musical Auditions.

The world’s most beloved musical is back with all the great songs you will find yourself singing again: "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Me," "Climb Every Mountain," "Edelweiss," and more. The story of the high-spirited postulant/governess who steals the heart of the Captain and his children, marries him and then escapes Nazi Germany and comes to America. Elizabeth von Trapp, granddaughter, will be present at the productions and will participate in additional events celebrating over 50 years of The Sound of Music. Directed by Keeley Stanley-Bohn.

GOLDEN GUILD

The Golden Guild performers are looking for men and women interested in performing “Reader’s Theatre” at senior citizen facilities in the Midland area. An “Olde Time Radio” script and a few props are used. This group’s performances have delighted seniors throughout the region. If you are interested in Reader’s Theatre and want to “play” with us, come to the auditions!
