Apply for the 2008 Highhill Scholarship The Midland Symphony League will be accepting applications next season for its annual Clara Highhill Memorial Scholarship for instrumental music students. The total prize money of $1,000 will be awarded to a student (or students) in grade 10 or 11. Applicants must be Midland County residents or studying with a Midland County teacher. The scholarship honors the memory of longtime Symphony League volunteer Clara Highhill by recognizing and encouraging talented orchestra and band students.

In addition to an application form, students must submit recommendations from both school and private music teachers and an audition recording. The selection process will include review of both recorded and later live audition performances. Final auditions will take place February 25, 2008 at the Midland Center for the Arts.

The winner(s) will be announced at the March 1, 2008 MSO concert and will perform at the annual meeting luncheon of the Midland Symphony League at a later date. The Midland Symphony League is a volunteer organization dedicated to the support of the Midland Symphony Orchestra through educational, promotional, and fund-raising activities. League volunteers have played a vital role in MSO operations since 1960.
