VICTORIAN FUNERAL TEA & CEMETERY TOUR
Saturday, September 26, 2009

Step back in time and discover a century of fascinating TRUE stories of run-ins with the law as we use the recently acquired Circuit Court records as the basis for this year's Victorian Funeral Tea and Cemetery Tour.

CEMETERY TOUR
Saturday, September 26, 2009
4:00 pm, 5:00 pm or 6:00 pm

We will transport you back in time aboard the Fairview Inn’s double-decker bus as we travel from Heritage Park to the Midland Cemetery. Throughout the cemetery you will encounter actors who are portraying those who lived in Midland County during the past 100 years and who may have had incidents with our judicial system.

Prior to the visit to the cemetery, you will visit the 1874 Bradley Home where they will have an opportunity to learn about funerary customs from the past with our own local expert, MCHS Chairman, Floyd Andrick. You will also see a headstone carving demonstration and more!

The tour as a stand-alone program will run at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 and lasts approximately two hours. Advance purchase is strongly recommended as this event often sells out.

Admission (Cemetery Tour only): $15; $12 MCHS Members

Tickets on sale July 22, 2009

Presented by Katee Heath: The "Apron Lady"

Memories of Grandma in her apron are bound to return as we explore the history and stories of the garment that lives in the kitchen. The joy and heart of the home are represented in aprons. From our cultural recollections of June Cleaver to our own personal memories of relatives wearing aprons to cook, clean, and serve our meals, the apron holds a special place in our cultural history.

Katee Heath has collected over 100 aprons dating from 1880 to the present. Many will be strung across the room for all to see during her presentation. Laugh along at the humorous stories she will share while reminiscing of days gone by.
