The Midland County Historical Society is pleased to offer a month of quilt-related special events. Join us in the Whitman Room, the Rotating Gallery and the Atrium of the Herbert D. Doan Midland County History Center to view quilt works of art. 

Admission: $5 for adults, $3 for Children, Free to MCHS & FOC Members. Tickets are available at the front desk of the Doan History Center.

"Great Lakes Nautical Quilt Contest Winners!"

The Midland County Historical Society is excited to announce the winners of our 1st Quilt Contest! The theme was "Great Lakes Nautical."
1st Place: Marie Glasby
2nd Place: Anita M. Karban-Neef
3rd Place: Stephanie McCormick
4th Place: Emily Coon
5th Place: Amy Thomas Meade

The quilts will be on display during the March Quilt Show and throughout the summer during the Historical Society’s nautical exhibit, “Great Lakes Titanics,” which features shipwrecks of the Great Lakes. (May 17 - August 10).

"Breanna's Flower Garden" Quilt Raffle"
Now through Aug. 18, 2008

The Midland County Historical Society is holding a fundraising quilt raffle. Proceeds will benefit programming at Heritage Park. The quilt, titled "Breanna's Flower Garden," is queen size and is composed of nine patch and machine appliquéd flowers using 1930s reproduction prints. The quilt is an original design and pattern and was designed, pieced and quilted by Robin House-Guettler. Dimensions: 78" x 100".

Robin has 25+ years of experience and enjoys all kinds of quilting. She is currently busy with her own quilting business, K&R Quilting House, in Bay City.

Quilt raffle tickets may be obtained at the Herbert D. Doan Midland County History Center or Midland Center for the Arts. Tickets will also be available from MCHS Advisory Board members. The quilt will be on display at the Herbert D. Doan Midland County History Center. It will also be at various events throughout the year. The drawing will take place on August 18, 2008 at 7 pm at Heritage Park during the annual MCHS Ice Cream Social. For further information contact the MCHS at 989-631-5930 x 1310.

Cost: $2 per ticket or 3 for $5. Need not be present to win.
