Class Schedules

Classes are typically 8-10 weeks, one class per week. Winter, spring, summer and fall schedules and registration are available one month preceding class start date. Schedules will be posted online. Those interested in obtaining a schedule can also contact the Center via email or by calling (989) 631-5930 ext. 1404.

The Studios
Our studios include a painting and drawing studio; a clay studio with potter’s wheels and both electric and gas kilns; a weaving studio with floor looms; a photography darkroom with enlargers; a jewelry/metals studio featuring a vacuum caster; a bronze foundry; and our printmaking department with lithography and etching presses.

Fall, Winter and Spring Children’s Classes
Art and Science classes are offered covering a large variety of disciplines. A wide variety of art 2-D and 3-D media are available. Explore the wondrous world of science. New classes are added with every semester. This is your opportunity to challenge your students and open their world to scientific or artistic discovery. Summer Science & Art Camps
Summer Camp is a visual arts and science education program for young people. The program provides a creative opportunity for youth during the summer vacation months with the objective of nurturing awareness, cultivating talent and teaching correct methods in science and the visual arts. Along with the new science classes, courses in both two- and three-dimensional media are offered. Join us for this opportunity to meet new friends and have lots of summertime fun! Summer Camps at the Center are offered June-August. Three 3-week sessions offer children the opportunity to explore the sciences and visual arts in a variety of mediums.

Preschool and Parent Program
A program designed to guide children ages 3-5 through the wonderful world of science and art with fun and exciting activities. With parent participation, the activities help develop skills and creativity. See the Museum School Brochure for current offerings. Science and Art Instructor Opportunities

The Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art is accepting applications for science instructors to teach classes. All sciences will be considered, chemistry, geology, nature, physics etc. Classes can range from elementary through adult.

How to Register

In Person: at the MCFTA Box Office Mon-Fri. 12-6 p.m. and Sat. 10:00 a.m. - 5 p.m.

By Mail: Complete the registration form in the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art flyer, available at MCFTA. Be sure to return by date noted in flyer.

By Phone: Call 989-631-8250. Have your VISA, MasterCard or Discover card number, expiration date and class title ready.

Early Registration Discount of $5 (see flyer or call for details).

Registration Confirmation: Your registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment. Then simply attend the first scheduled class session.



Membership Discounts

We invite you to become a member of the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art. Members receive a discount of $25 on adult classes and $15 on children’s classes and workshops for the entire year of their membership, advance notification of Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art events and a subscription to our newsletter.



Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available, awarded on the basis of financial need and interest of applicants. Scholarships cover tuition only; recipients are responsible for cost of materials. To request scholarship information stop by the office 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. or call (989) 631-5930 ext. 1401.



Cancellations

When enrollment is not sufficient to support a class, we reserve the right to cancel it. If your class is cancelled, our staff will contact you personally. You will have the option of receiving a full refund or switching to another class of your choice.



Refund Policy

Withdrawal BEFORE 1st class = full refund
Withdrawal AFTER 1st class = 2/3 refund
Withdrawal after 2 classes = no refund
Tuition NOT prorated for late registration or absences
